WELLOW BROOK WALK

MIDSOMER NORTON

The Town Council lease this redundant grazing land from the Duchy of Cornwall. It had long been accessed by the public but the paths were narrow and very muddy in winter, with ad hoc vegetation management lacking any clear objectives. The site entrance was also rather hidden and uninviting. Unsure how to improve the site, the Town Council asked New Leaf Studio to come up with proposals. Work included commissioning an ecological survey and ecological management plan and working closely with the local power company who were due to lay a new cable along the length of the site, ensuring that the cable run doubled up to provide the improved path surface.

We produced a masterplan and then detailed proposals, followed by project management for a first phase of path improvements and installation of furniture. Our work continues, working with the Somer Valley Rediscovered Partnership to develop an updated comprehensive management plan for the improved site
