ABOUT
New Leaf Studio was founded by Andy King and Simon Tournay in 1996. Our aim was to create a practice where designs are developed collaboratively by an enthusiastic team. Where ideas are shared freely, rather than being constrained by management hierarchy. Where there’s deep respect for the landscape and the natural world. Where value is placed on both creative thinking and attention to detail, tempered only by practicality in order to deliver well-considered designs for clients. Where honesty and integrity matters
After a brief spell in Andy’s unfinished house extension and needing to expand, in 1999 we moved to offices in Bristol, from where we continue to provide a range of client led professional services in the fields of landscape design and landscape management
From the outset we’ve purposely kept New Leaf Studio relatively small. This allows Andy and Simon to remain hands-on with all projects, ensuring their extensive experience is present at every stage.
We’re proud to say that nearly 30 years on we have an enviable track record, with particular expertise working in historic landscapes, public parks, civic spaces, commercial and light industrial premises, residential schemes (particularly in relation to retirement housing and care homes), healthcare facilities and larger private gardens.
We believe in continuous improvement, so we’re always updating our skills and learning from projects to offer clients the very best expertise.
NEW LEAF STUDIO VALUES
Honesty and integrity
Our guiding principles: these are key to who we are and feeling good about what we do. We want our work to make a positive contribution and hopefully leave our world in a better place.
Attention to detail
Details can make or break the success of a project, or transform a design from acceptable to exceptional. This is why attention to detail is at the forefront of everything we do.
Form follows function
Our designs always relate to the way the site may be used, rather than imposing a pattern or form just for aesthetic purposes.
Creativity and imagination
Innovation and creativity is at the heart of all our designs, balanced with working within the design brief and function of the site.
Sustainability
We’re always conscious of the effects our designs may have on the environment, both positive and negative. Being mindful of this and the current climate emergency, we always aim to achieve sustainable solutions, respond to climate change by ensuring future resilience, and deliver biodiversity enhancements.

A very helpful, skilled and professional organisation.
