Redevelopment and conversion of former barns, stables and
kennels of historic stud farm to provide seven luxury houses. The
special character of this conservation area
site was to be preserved and enhanced, whilst meeting modern needs for
vehicular access and parking. Use of
gravel and cobbles for vehicular surfaces combined with planting
designed with a soft informal character have
helped avoid vehicular access becoming over dominant in the appearance
of the finished scheme. Extensive use
has been made of grasses and herbaceous plants that will colonise the
gravel areas, blurring the boundaries
between garden and circulation spaces.
